Looking for a Certified Dog Trainer? You're In the Right Place!

Let me introduce myself... I'm Shannon Pennings, a certified dog trainer in Brantford, Ontario. I am the owner (along with my husband, Lawrence) and dog trainer at Precision K9 Professional Training.

Owning dogs all my life and working at a dog kennel easily convinced me that my future was in professional dog training. I was taught by the dog training guru Dave McMahon of Niagara Falls based Dave McMahon's Dog Training Academy, and took my own dog through each of the levels of obedience. Feel free to check out Dave's website .

Besides obedience training, I also learned personal protection training, narcotic detection training, and tracking. Here are a couple pictures of certified dog trainer Dave McMahon and I working Dave's Belgian Malinois, Heidi, on the sleeve (personal protection):

I had better introduce you to my dog as well, who is the demonstration dog for all of our classes. Meet Justice!

Justice

Justice was rescued off the street as a puppy where she was found with her litter mates. Because of this history, training her was a challenge, but she is now 2 years old and a happy, obedient and well-adjusted family pet. There is no real pedigree to her, either... as far as we can tell, she is part German Shepherd, part Lab and part Beagle!

So now that you know about us, you must be wondering what we all have to offer you. Here is a list of different things available:

1) In home dog training - This professional dog training course is private, one-on-one training for you and your dog in the comfort of your own home. Every lesson is taught by certified dog trainer Shannon.

It is very flexible, in that we tailor the course dates and times to your schedule. Lessons are every week, but you can choose a different day each week if you like, as well as a different time. Many shift workers choose this option for that reason.

In home dog training is also a great choice if you are having specific problems at home that don't happen anywhere else (keeping dog out of certain rooms, etc.).

2) Group dog training classes - This isn't flexible as far as times and dates go: classes are always same day, same time every week. And don't worry, all of your classes will be taught by our certified dog trainer.

The advantage to a group class is that it is cheaper than private lessons, and you can have your dog at a dog training school with the distractions of having other dogs and people around. This option is great for both puppies or older dogs.

3) Puppy socializing - This is not really a separate "option", but is important enough to make another point. Without proper puppy socializing, as he grows up, your puppy may become aggressive towards new people and dogs, fearful of new things and also more difficult to train as he was never desensitized to all the distractions in the real world (cars, squirrels, crowds of people).

Puppy socializing happens in a group class setting. Simply being there and seeing the other dogs/people socializes your puppy. They don't need to be running around with and sniffing the other dogs, as this can cause dog fights and bloodshed (there is a no sniffing rule here for this reason). So if you have a young puppy, I highly recommend our group classes to you.

4) Behavior consultations - Good for any extra help that you need in addition to our group classes. They can be just Q & A sessions for yourself and the trainer, or can be hands-on work with, say, an aggressive dog. In the Novice level basic dog training course , each student receives one free behavioral consultation.

5) Fetch-it! dog training - Teach your dog to fetch without the hassle of trying to coax him to bring the object back and give it to you. This is taught separately from any of the obedience courses, so even if you're not interested in obedience training, you can still learn this fun game!

Fetch-it training seminars are offered approximately every 3 or 4 months, so contact us for the next date. Each seminar is 45 minutes long and is taught by certified dog trainer Shannon.

6) Dog product training - Buying or bought a dog collar that is more complicated than you can figure out? We offer dog product training also with certified dog trainer Shannon Pennings on collars including Innotek, PetSafe, Invisible Fence, Radio Pet, Tritronics, Citronella anti-bark collars, electronic anti-bark collars and e-collars. Learn how to properly fit and use them for maximum results.

If you've read all this and still haven't found what you're looking for, contact us with your question and we'll be happy to guide you to the right choice!
